Discus are lovely fish but the water is just not right for them where I live.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I really like discus too but haven't gotten the nerve to try them yet. I think my water would be fine. The pH is about 7.2 from the tap but I have 0 buffering capacity so the pH drops to about 6.4 in the tank. It wouldn't take much other than a piece of bogwood to drop it on down to the 6.0 range if needed. They're just very expensive and I want to get a little more experience before I tackle them.

to the forum! I love discus too but I have never keep them either. I heard they are very sensitive to water changes might try it someday though. Glad you could join us on the forum.
