I just got myself a pair of red honey gourami's an di have a few questions.

how do i know if these are dwarf gourami's?
will they eat normal flake foods and bloodworms?
and what should i expect from these lovely fish, playfull.. nippy.. stuff like that :)

i have platies and mollies with 4 cardinal tetras atm.

thanks!

hey as far as im aware through peronal experiance gouramis are ok togther but it just depends on the individual fish because males dont tend to like each other. Honey gouramis are meant to be the nicest gourami in terms of aggression. One thing i did notice a problem with was when i mixed two different kinds of gouramis. Gouramis do eat the food listed. I would say that they are quite graceful to watch i wouldnt call them really inteeligant but they do come to know you slightly.

wow great, so far they are doing okay with the rest of my fish :) here are some pics.

they were sold as red honey gourami's, and i was told they were dwarf type :)

Honey gouramis (Colisa chuna) are not the same as dwarf gouramis (Colisa lalia). They are normally less agressive (all gouramis are territorial) than dwarfs, but nevertheless you should provide them with hiding spaces (plants, rocks, wood). In this sense judging from the pictures, you could improve a bit.

Gouramis don't like strong current and surface movement and prefer some floating plants.

Mollies don't like gouramis for some reason, and you might get trouble with them nipping the gouramis later on.

Feeding: flake food and live foods. For breeding and nice colours, brineshrimp, bloodworm etc. are really appreciated by them.

And one last thing: it would really have been much better if you had researched a bit on the species you are thinking to buy! It can save you a lot of hassle in the future.
