Hello All,
Just to introduce myself. . .
I've never used forums before of any kind, so please forgive me if I'm not familiar with how it all works.
I have been keeping fish since I was about 15 or 16 and I am now in my 30s. I have had a 2foot tropical community tank for about 10 years and have just up-sized to a 4 foot tank (48width x 12depth x 18height)and I am now stocking it up and have added in live plants (first time I have had live plants).
I currently have 6 guppies, 6 zebra danios, 8 neon tetras, 1 yoyo loach in the big tank and 4 Julii corys and 4 black phantom tetras in quarrentine waiting to go in.
I moved the mature internal filter across from the old tank and then added an additional internal filter to cope with the larger volume (which I let mature slowly adding a few fish at a time while it caught up). But I want to eventually replace the 2 internals with 1 larger internal or possibly an external (when I am feeling rich).
The big tank is currently gravel substrate but, given the corys currently in quarrentine and not eating very well
, I am now thinking about changing to sand, or at least part sand. I have never had sand substrate before.
I've been reading various forums and finding some great information while I've been setting up the new tank, and I thought it was probably time I got properly involved, so I've chosen this one to join because it seems very friendly and because responses seem to be very well informed, and posted very quickly.
All the best.
