Hello Everyone,
I have just re-joined this hobby after around 18 years... Although I have had my current tank now running for about 2 years.
I used to keep tropical fish for most of my younger life, and in the later stages (2002-2008), I also began keeping marine reef tanks.
Unfortunately the rental I currently live in gets way too hot for marine setups, however with a small air conditioner, it's suitable for tropicals.
I have a "large size" 4ft Tank (380L) with a sump filter made out of a regular 2.5ft tank.
Chihiros WRGB light (Haha, the light cost me about as much as the tank!)...
However, I wanted to do a planted setup this time, so the light was not to be skimped on.
Plants are not doing well however... To be worked on.
Otherwise, things have been going well in this setup - Filter is doing a great job, and mostly all the fish have been happy... There have been a few losses to date, but nowhere near as many as when I last kept aquariums... AND, I am now keeping fish that I always wanted, but in the past would just die within the first week.
Until beginning to keep marine tanks, I did not even have any clue about the nitrogen cycle! So I don't even know how I kept any tropicals alive at all!
Happy to be here now, so many, may years later... With more of an understanding... But I still have much to learn.
Hoping to help others, and for the more experienced to help me!
Best Regards,
Steve (AKA, sodonald22)
