Hi all, I'm reasonably new to tropical fish keeping. Got a small 8 gallon tank for my birthday last year, which I have just upgraded to a 60 gallon aquarium thanks to my husband at xmas. I have one or two questions and I'll post hem in the approriate section.

tank occupants,

5 guppies
6 mollies ( including one balloon and one HUGE female)
2 harlequins
2 pearl danios
6 zebra danio's (fish sitting 3 for my dad)
two nameless fish
1 sucking loach

most transfered from old tank, with origanl filter media in new filter and old gravel mixed with new, and old water and plants.

awaiting delivery of new plants to 'landscape' and then i can look at my fish stocks again once cycling has been completed. I had no choice but to do a 'fish in' cycle but hope i've done it right by transferring all the old media etc.

comments welcome.

Hello and welcome to the forum. :hi:

You are right in moving all the filter media. That basically makes the new tank cycled for the fish that were in the old tank. If you added more to those, then you can expect a mini cycle (may get one anyway as although you transefered the filter media, you didn't transfer 100% of the bacteria from the old tank). The first suggestion I would make concerning future stock is to fill out the schools of harleguins and danios (although I don't know if they go very well with big-tailed fish (nippy) like guppies or not). Also, what are the nameless fish (description or pics if you don't know the names) and how big are they?

Hi, thanks for replying, I was so worried I'd be ignored.

Not really knowledgeable, just learnt alot over the last 6 months and have been reading these forums for a while. It just seemed logical.

You won''t get a lot of replies in the Newbie section as not many people come here. I'm at work though so I have plenty of time to spend welcoming newbies. It's a lot more fun that actually working.
