Hello!
I have had a community tank set up for about a year with the usual fish platys/neon tetras/guppies etc.
I bought a pleco about 10 days ago after asking my LFS a lot of questions about this. I have since discovered that this shop will pretty much sell anything to anyone. My pleco has started to lose it's colour and I've looked on the internet and found out it may be because it's not getting enough food. My LFS told me it would just eat the algae off the tank and needed nothing else.
I've tried to feed it fresh peas but won't go near them (probably because they are now floating at top of tank!).
Can someone please advise - I really like this fish and don't want to lose it.
Thanks
K

hi get some cucumber and stick a stainless steal spoon in it and it should sink hell love it or like spinage or zuchini or get some algea wafers from your fish shop also is it a common plec if so then they need atleast a 6x2x2 foot tank as they grow upto two feet long

Hello!

I asked this question about my Bristlenose recently, here's the thread with some great tips on what you can feed Pleco food

Mine likes cucumber, but I've not had success with carrots, corn or spinach yet. Trying a new veg almost everyday.

If you are feeding peas to any fish, the best thing to do is deshell them first. I mash them up so that they sink to the bottom and are easier to manage for the smaller fish.
