I just registered, and I wanted to drop by and say hello. I'm from North Carolina, and I had fish tanks all my life. As a kid I had a small 1 gallon fish tank with a goldfish that lived for about 5-6 years.
After a long break, I picked up a 10 gallon tank back in 2004, and I had it with Guppies, but I had to deploy to Afghanistan, so I gave the fish away and stored everything. About a month and a half ago I set everything back up, I did the fish cycle in the 10 gallon tank with Danios, which I lost two due to sickness.
Three days ago I broke the piggy bank and I purchased a 55 gallon tank, and I jump started the filters with handful of gravel and pieces of filter from the original 10 gallon tank. Currently I have 5 Danios (2 females, 3 males), and 4 Guppies (1 male, 3 females)
About 5 days ago, a female Guppy gave birth to about 20 fry (the main reason to update to a bigger tank) and they are currently living in the 10 gallon tank.
I have a additional 10 gallon tank that I also jump started with pieces of the filter from the original 10 gallon, and I had the bigger Danio female on it. She's very aggressive, chases and bullies the other Danios, and the Guppies. Oh I forgot, I also have a small 1 gallon tank with a veil tail red Betta. I had it in the community tank with the Danios, but I think he's happier by himself in the small tank.
