Hi all,

Just thought we'd introduce ourselves, we're Dai and Gems from Wales. We have a Fluval Roma 90 which has been up and running since last May. We currently have a stock of community fish, but we have not been without our problems lol. Since the start we have suffered quite badly with fin rot and Ich not to mention a filter that totally malfunctioned and quite quickly wiped out our little population. Fingers crossed we now seem to learning more as we go.

Looking forward to more posting!

Thanks for the welcomes :)

We are in Swansea.

In our tank we have; 3 Odessa Barbs, 2 German Rams, 4 Rummynose Tetras, 2 Neon Tetras, 1 Bristlenose Plec, 2 Panda Corys and 2 Dwarf Rainbows.

We also have a Male Betta in our tank but not for much longer as we bought him a new tank all for himself today as I think the barbs are picking on him a little.

In general your stock looks fine - none of the fish will outgrow the tank, which is great.

However, you have a lot of shoaling fish (barbs, tetras, corys, rainbows) that are not in shoals. In order to get these guys into the groups of 5 or 6 that they should be in, you'll end up over stocking the tank =(

It might be a case that you need to choose which fish you like the most and boost them up at the expense of rehoming some others.

You could happily get away with your rams and plec, and then 15 other fish . . . pick three groups of your 5 groups of shoaling fish and make sure they have 5 fish each per group. You would ideally need to rehome the others

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news. These little guys just need some friends.

Thanks for that. We are considering a bigger tank and adding more to each of the species we have. The reason why we have pairs of neons etc is due to the loss of fish at the beginning of our tank e.g we had seven neons to begin with but lost five due to a faulty filter. When we replaced them we chose a different species of fish but didn't want to rehome them as they seemed happy and healthy enough.
Plus we have been given some not so accurate advice from lfs, just wish we had found this forum sooner.

I know the feeling! I had a 14 litre tank, 3 neons and a betta before I found this place, lol.

If you went for a 150 litre, you could boost all the groups :good:

I know what you mean about not wanting to rehome seemingly healthy fish. It's a tough thing to do. If you can get a bigger tank, go for it. You could also set up a second smaller tank if you were worried about space - maybe a 50-60 litre, and move the corys, neons and rainbows in there?
