:hyper: Hello All, I am a Canadian living in Japan. Have been here for 3 years and a bit. Have been in the aquarium hobby for a while but never joined a forum before. I started with a saltwater tank a ways back in Canada. Here in Japan, I decided to go with freshwater as it's too hot in the summer. I currently have a very small tank. It's about 13 liters (3.38 gallons) .
It is planted with DIY CO2. It's very low tech and have had pretty good success with it. I hope to post a picture of it soon but would like to wait till I get it covered with more HC.

*THINKS REALLY HARD*

I am not an expert but hope I can be of help to anyone.
Though I am experienced, there is always room to learn.

might i ask how a canadian ended up in japan...no offence but thats kinda weird awesome but diferent all together i'm from wisconsin and could never imagine going to japan (wisconsin is canadian neighbor) exspecially to live there could u also post some cool pics of the aquarium over there....i heard its a hudge one with some insane fishies if thats ok with you

but welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we're gonna love having you

Hello gallum8,

Well, I am married to a Japanese and decided to venture out to Japan.
Before moving to Japan, I had a salt water tank. It was a reef tank
with a Tomato Clown fish and an Anenomi.
I had it running for two years but had to give it up. :-(
Have been here for about 4 years now and really enjoy it here.

Fish tanks here are insane....they have just about everything you could imagine.
Only one issue I find here is that the most simpliest things that you need like an
elbow joint for the air tubes are unavailable. Other than that, it's amazing.
Pics are something I can't provide. Stores will not allow photographs as some
animals are illegally imported.

There are only two major aquarium shops that I have found here that are worthy to visit
and these shops are for serious aquarium enthusiasts.
Unfortunately they have no website.

I will be posting pictures and some DIY ideas that I have done here for those who have a
limited budget in the near future. I have posted a few pics in the "plants and planted" forum
under "Hc" started by BigIan on Dec 28,2006.

Hello mikster,

Thanks for the welcome and I hope you'll enjoy your stay in Canada.
I do miss Canada (Vancouver B.C.) but on the other hand, I am quite happy here in Japan.
Are you planning to visit Japan or are you planning to stay a while and work?
If you do make it to Japan and stay for a while be prepared for a little culture shock.
I've never been to England but here in Japan, you'll be overwhelmed by
the customs, crowds, noise, sights and pollution at first. Once you adjust, you 'll be fine.
The key to enjoying your stay in Japan as well as other Asian countries is to not compare
their culture to Western culture. I've meet people who often do this and I still do it from
time to time and it'll just drive you crazy. Keep and open mind as they say but it's
quite difficult to do at times. :S
Either way, hope you make it and enjoy Japan as much as I do, eh. :D

i really love japan.... it's the only place i've been to on holiday and REALLY not wanted to come home.

i remember sitting in narita airport looking around thinking... how can i stay just a bit longer...

i cried on the plane on the way home.

everyone should go there once

Hajimema####a. Watashiha nihongo ga benkyou. Watashiha nihonga suki deus!

Im just a begginer in japanese, but i find it awsome! Im going to visit japan in a few years, once i learn the language better. I have a freind who lives in Mie and a freind who lives in Okinawa they both tell me such cool storys about japan, i cant wait to visit there!.

btw, What sort of fish do you have in your little tank. a betta?

Hey JamieH,

Yeah! I guess Japan is a place to visit at least once. What other places in Japan did you go to?
Narita is quite far from where I am but everyone who has traveled through Asia must have at
least dropped in on Narita at one point or another.
It's quite a place to visit but to actually live here is another story.
For the most part, it's great....just need an open mind and be willing to accept the way they do
things here. :fun:
