Hello all,
You've another new aquarist in your mix
.
A little bit about me. I'm 30 years old and work in the maintenance dept at a major retail clothing store. I rent a fairly large 2nd story of a house with my girlfriend and myself. I've decided i'd like to maintain a reef tank, and my girlfriend is pretty interested too even after telling her it could be around $50 a gallon when all is said and done,
.
I've bought a book to try to familiarize myself with some fundamentals, called "The Saltwater Aquarium Handbook", by George Blasiola. The book does as an ok job at painting an overall picture, but there's some room for improvement, imo.
A friend of mine has a 55g tank he's giving me along with some other goodies, tonight B). I'll post back later on to tell you about the freebies. It'll sit around for a bit, until i have a better grasp on things. I understand the nigtrogen cycle, and am trying to get a grasp of equipment and setups. Someone should really make some pictures with photoshop, paint, etc, as to how reefers set up there systems, so that all the info in this forum can be, mentally, brought together B) .
Today, i'm going out to poke around some lfs's to see setups and see where my money might be best spent when i'm ready. On a sidenote, the same guy that is giving me some goodies, has a cousin who is starting up a tank as well. I believe he's registered here as Omen. I suspect the two of us will be picking at your mental sponges for a bit
.
Anyhoo, that's me
