Fish Addict
So, to introduce myself here:
I started with fishkeeping as a kid, as everyone. My first real fish tank was in 2011, when I took over what my boss had set up at work, with zero initial control over inhabitants, plants and decor, up to the point where I changed it from the initial mess he made to 15 harlequin rasboras and one pleco in a 50l, which was stable for 6 years.
I experimented at home, with the usual mistake of buying a 25 litre for "shrimp and small fish" in 2012, and suffered for 5 years through algae, not growing plants due to poor lighting and dying out shrimp. At least I tested those, and had this type of tank for years with just boraras maculatus, sometimes shrimp, sometimes snail and in the end my first betta (which as always, was a mistake, they are very specific).
In 2017 I took home the 54 litre, remade it with sand, had guppies for a while, had shrimp (again not successful in breeding), had a betta, had issues with green algae, that lasted up until this year when I remade the tank again.
In 2012 I purchased the 360 litre, and made it into "tanganyika' setup. Had neolamprologus multifasciatus, last four I just moved to my 54fishtank as they stopped breeding (best guess is Ph issues). In the almost 10 years, I have had cyprichromis leptosoma for 4 of these, danios for 3 and past three years had harlequin rasboras. Sometimes had a pleco or a snail, otherwise kept it bottom of the tank - multies, top of the tank - a school of mellow fish.
At this point in my life, I have a 40 litre fish tank that houses one betta male (he is year and a half, the fishtank is a month old), a 54 litre fish tank, that houses 4 neolamprologus multifasciatus (remade the tank bottom about a month ago, moved the fish there few days ago), and a 360 litre fish tank that now has 7 harlequin rasboras, 2 tylomelania snails that made me raise the temperature up to 27 degrees and a whole lot of space and ideas what to put in there.
Reading my whole history, I am not a particularly good fish keeping person and apparently didnt have much luck or good experience with any of my tanks, but I sure as hell did have fun and I guess that is what counts.
I like stuff simple, am not good at making (only aquatic) plants grow and preferer small easy fish. I also have two dogs and two jobs, so cant dedicate that much time to the fish tanks.
