Hello forum!

I've never kept an aquarium before. It's always been my husband's "thing". :X
He keeps freshwater - mostly asiatic species like gourami, barbs, giant danio and three schwartz cory. Normally, fish aren't very interesting to me. They just swim around, or so I thought.

I'm learning all I can about the green spotted puffer fish. I don't mind that they can't really be a community fish based on the info I've read.
I was thinking that a nice 40 gal aquarium with live rock ( maybe some coral down the road? ) and black sand bottom would be an attractive tank to house one in.

I don't know much about keeping an aquarium, so here I am, ready and willing to learn!

Hello and welcome to the forum. :hi:

This is a great forum with a lot of knowledgeable members. I'm not very familiar with puffers other than that they are heavy brackish or even SW fish and aren't community fish as you mentioned. You should be able to find plenty of info on them in the Brackish forum or with a search. It's off that there was a post just a little earlier in the Chit Chat and Oddball sections on GSPs. Good luck.

Thank you.

I'm really excited about setting up the tank and all. I'll have a look around the forum and learn more before I bring one home.
I really like the bow front aquarium style, hopefully with the puffer's unique independently moving eyeballs, their depth perception will keep it from smacking into the glass.

Hi and welcome

Hopefully we can convert you completely and make you just as nuts about fish as the rest of us. Well most of us go nutty but its similar

I absolutely love puffer fish!! Never kept them before but when I move to FLorida I'm definitely getting a puffer tank setup. They have the most adorable faces...as soon as you get it setup you gotta show us some pix! :good:

Ah, thanks guys!
My hubby's tank is beautiful, but a bit boring in my opinion. :sly: I think I'm jealous over all the time and attention he gives his tank. j/k Har, har...
He is more into the Amano 'water garden' style aquariums. ( I hope I got that right ).

He loves plants and even though it's abit more difficult to maintain, he's hard core about no artificial anything besides oxygen contraptions and such.

It'll be a while before I can get the tank I want. :/ This place is perfect to lurk for info and personal experiences.
