Yep, I'm a newbie in here. I've had aquariums for more than 20 years, but just now I got an aquarium of my own when moving together with my common-law-husband, and I'm all excited again. We have two aquariums now, and a third one is waiting.
Our bigger tank (612 litres = 161,5 gallons)is for our big fishes (different loanches, plecos and cichlids) and the small one (45 litres = 11,8 gallons) is for apple snails, baby fish and Neocaridina denticulata sinensis.
I would say I know a lot about aquariums and fishes, because I study and read a lot, and in Finland we have reaaally strict laws about keeping any animal (aquariums too) so you need to know what you're doing.
And no, this isn't enough - we have already planned to get at least 1500 litres for peacock-eye stingrays when we get a bigger apartment, but all in time...

45 litres
I may sound a bit harsh sometimes, but it just because in some other countries laws about keeping fish are different than in mine. But I just want best for them, you know?
