Hello Everyone

Hello everyone, My name is Nathan Higgins, Most people call me Higgins :]
I am new to the hobby myself but Aquariums in my family are like Salt and Pepper.
Me and my Girlfriend moved into our own apartment 4months ago and whilst she was buying beds i purchased a lovely 40 gallon tank
The Aquarium is running beautifully i just feel like its very empty!
Current Aquarium 25/01/2012 is planted with;

1x Opaline Gourami - Female
2x Gold Dwarf Gourami - Pair
1x Tire Track Eel - around 5"
5x Varius Platys

With in the tank i have 6 bunches of plants and 3 small to medium sized rocks
Also a 30" air wall & a circle air stone.
I will ( once ive learned how to ) upload a few images so you can all see.
My first question is what,if you were to add to the tank, what would it be??

I've always had a soft spot for Cardinal Tetra's and was going to suggest a small shoal, but searched Tire eel on here and it seems they can grow large enough to make a meal of smaller fish! Hey I've only been on here three days and trying to give out advice already.

Thankyou! 3 days and your a pro, im Jealouse i do love Cardinal Tetra's myself, But i love my eel more!! He's only a baby at the moment but like you say ive read up myself and he will soon be big enough to have a tetra buffet.
I really want something eye grabbing, my aqarium is my pride and joy and is my center piece in the living room!

Thanks for accepting we have very similar taste in fish. I would love some angelfish but ive heard horror storys. I want colourful.
I just want something that stands out more than the interior of the tank does

Hahaa Lava Lamps my Girlfriend has a beautiful one in our bedroom she really likes them
im going to look into Angelfish once i find the ones ill have to upload a pic of the aquarium
