Hi all,

Bit of de ja vu going on, I was a member a few years ago, though cannot for the life of me remember my old details, so starting afresh.
I'm not new to the hobby, though have been out of it a while due to lots of relocating and moving around.
In the past I have kept and bred many species. I miss my planted community tanks, breeding Siamese fighters and that general relaxing, proud feeling you get when sitting back and watching your tank thrive.
Looking forward to slowly getting back into the hobby, catching up with all the latest news and can't wait for that excited feeling, when I get round to actually setting up a new tank.

Do we have many Scottish hobbyists around?

hi onyxian and welcome back to the forum!!

glad you are excited about getting back into fishkeeping! setting up a new tank is always really exciting. I am from Penicuik in Midlothian. Where in Scotland are you from??

L :hi:

Hi Laura, Zoddy and thank you :)

I am in Paisley, just outside of Glasgow.

I haven't yet checked out any shops with a view to buying. I visit a few very local shops on a regular basis and always stop at the fish sections of the shops. Must say that I have not been particularly been wowed by quality of fish or water and the lack of knowledge from store owners has worried me. Looking forward to finding some better shops very soon. I'd love it even more to find local keepers and/or breeders. I much prefer buying fish privately when possible and it is a great way of making friends with other hobbyists, too :)

the forum does have a classifieds section, so maybe you can find some local sellers through there....

:hi: to the forums! I'm glad that you found this site because it is one of the best you'll ever find. If you need help go to the beginners section of the forums. Also make sure to check out this link. It will show you how to cycle your tank the best and fastest way possible, fishless. I hope that you feel welcomed. Also don't forget to ask alot of questions, after all that's what we're here for.

For the method I'm doing the add and wait, because I feel it is the best method for me.

Hehe thanks Xero. I might have been out the hobby a while but not long enough to forget how to do a dreaded cycle, thanks anyway though and thank you for the welcome :)

Ha ha . Sorry whenever I see the word Newbie underneath their name I have a habit of recommending to cycle. ;) I sometimes forget their "rank" is not always the case. :D
