Hi All, what a fantastic site for information!

I've had cold water tanks in the past but always wanted a tropical tank and have just bit the bullet and bought a 180 litre tank.

I ordered my Fluval 305 today and Api Test Kit as recommended on this site and once they arrive i'll be starting my fishless cycle process

I'm still undecided on whether to go with gravel or sand but I do know I am going to be using real plants throughout the tank and have just ordered these from ebay Here

I had a big Motorcycle accident last year breaking all my legs and arms etc and have been looking for something to get my teeth into for a while whilst I have the time off work and i'm determined to do this right hence the fishless cycle process etc.

I'm sure i'll have a hundred and one questions along the way and I look forward to the banter etc on the site to come

I bought that same collection of plants last year. Don't worry if they look a bit thin and rootless; they'll soon perk up and fill out

Cheers Fluttermouth, I just hope i've not bought them too soon now reading posts on here! I didn't realise the first water is just a "Soup" to prepare the filters etc, but i'll just plant them up in pond soil and leave it in a tank/bucket of water until needed in the tank

Great idea! Make sure you leave them some where they'll be warm and get some light
