Hi all, I just found your site through a search engine and every thing looks very nice indeed!

I have been keeping fresh water tropical fish for around 6 years. I worked in a good independent fish shop for around 2 and half years, so I have (or had) a good knowledge base on fresh water, marine and pond fish.

I look forward to some healthy fish chat!

Hello, welcome to the forums

Welcome to TFF.
Glad to see you join, where abouts are you from?
And could you give us some details on your fish tanks/fish you keep and possibly some photos?
We are all very nosey around here.
Im guessing you will be able to give some people advice, so its good to have you.

Thanks!

I'm from Maidstone and worked in the best fish shop in town (I won't name drop!)

I only have a small community tank (due to lack of space) and keep it modestly stocked, I hate very busy tanks. As you will be able to tell from my username I love blind cave fish. On my first day at the fish shop they were the fish that first caught my eye. I couldn't believe how well a fish with now eyes could navigate around a tank. I know that most people consider them to be the most ugliest fish around but I like the unusual.

In my 70 litre tank I have;

1 large spotted synodontis - don't ask me exactly why type but I believe he's a Synodontis petricola.
3 very large blind cave fish
2 large Buenos Aires tetra
3 bronze corydoras
1 small pink kiss gurami - soon to be taken back
5 tiger barbs (problem - see my thread in general section)

I don't have any pics, the tank is pretty unimpressive to look at tbh. However I am in the process on buying my first house which will allow me to upscale, wahoo! I'm going to be getting a 200 - 300 litre tank, although I am undecided as to what will be going in.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Hi all, didnt want to start a new thread just to say hi also (sorry for hijacking your thread blindcavefish)

Basically I am a newbie to the world of tropical fish keeping, tonight I start my very first tank. Over past few months Ive read a good few books and done a bit of research and then decided to take the plunge.

I have just set up a Juwel Lido 120, built her and just started to cycle, so I still have at least a week before I can start to introduce any fish, hopefully by then Ill have picked up a bit more knowledge (and you'll all be sick of me asking questions)

From one newbie to another, HELLO!

You shouldn't worry about starting your own thread.

Good luck with the new tank - I'm jealous!
