How gutted am I? early in week i had 15 Molly fry, they were surviving fine in a breeding trap in main tank, moved them to fry tank yesterday (which didnt have time to cycle) and had no filter in it (added box filter this morning after it spent night in main tank)

I can count atleast 7 of the fry on their backs on the floor and a few more on the floor with gills just moving

HELP!!!!!

how can I save my babies? I know there will be more but these were my first fry.
Regards
Stu

What was the ph and temp of the fry tank.
Did you climatise them if there was a difference.

temp was 25, main tank was 26 and ph for both was 7.0, before I moved the fry in (24 hours ago) I had filled the tank with untreated tap water and let it stand for 24 hours with an air stone in, I also added some flake food and 2 bactozyme tabs (I had them so used them), then yest morning before adding fry i took out 50% water, treated the other 50% with dechlor (as it just arrived) then filled tank with water from main tank, added some substrate from main tank as well as a fake plant and a broken pot. Then added the fry as I thought I needed the trap for another pregnant molly (which I now didnt need).
Then last night my filter turned up so I added it the main tank (squeezing some juice from the sponges in main filter on the new wool) and ran it in there over night, then this morning I find my fry disapperaing so have added the filter straight in.......
Help me in panicking now lol

Are the fry any better now that you have some aeration in the tank.

If there on there backs sorry not looking good.
It could be a number of things hard ot pin point it at this moment in time.

Fry are very sensitive to things as there young, could of been the untreated water.

tank was aerated all night with a long airstone, so a curtain of bubbles, I have found one swimming, the rest dont look good, unfortunately I only have the 5 in 1 test strips and my readings are
GH 60
KH 40
PH 6.5 to 7.0
No2 1
No3 20 to 40
Temp 24

main tank is
80
40
7.0
3
40
26

Ammonia and nitrite should be 0.
If there on there back sorry not looking good.
When you say the nitrite reading do you mean 01 on on the chart.
Test strips are not accurate the liquid test kits are the best.
Right with fry you can't hardly use any salt how many gallons is the fry tank.

hmmmm chart is just 0 - 1 - and so on, does not give 0.0 readings or anything specific.

hmmmt tank I think is 18inches long by 10 high and wide

im gutted

If you can match temp and ph yes, but the stress of all of it they might not make it.
Don't add the ones on there backs sorry there not going to make it.
