Yeah I saw it for real today. Was it my comment on its size which inspired you to do this post, Corin? It's just strange because it appears to be much larger than some of the experts tanks, normally they would have much higher light and CO2 than your tank, but in all the pictures of I've seen they are much smaller. This could be because of trimming, but I think you must be providing your E. tennelus with the best conditions it needs to grow.

Sounds interesting. Maybe grown at a slower rate (implied by comments about your setup) gives its a chance to grow stronger and taller? I'm guessing here

My ET that was under 3WPG stayed fairly low at about 10cm, but the runners that popped up in amongst the stems were shaded and became fairly leggy and tall. When the growth becomes too dense, the leaves can`t branch out and bend over, so they get forced upwards, making the plant look taller.

Looking at tanks from the far east with ET in them I am thinking that their ET is a lot smaller plant than we get over here. Amano`s are always low lying plants, and some of the leaves take on a red hue.

There are 2 of these small swords, Echinodorus Tenellus (Pygmy Chain Sword) and Echinodorus quadricostatus (Dwarf Chain Sword). ET seems to be called both pygmy and dwarf depending where you look and EQ is just refered to as dwarf. EQ seems to have a wider leaf though.

Going by the pics on Tropica, ET does have a red colour to its leaves.

My substrate is a mix of Tetra Complete-Substrate, Colombo and Redsea Florabase...

There are different varieties of ET, maybe some grow taller than others... Generally speaking, I'll go with what Dave said... I think the cause for taller growth is just because lighting is fairly low and the carpet is dence.

doesnt make sence to me since I have 3.6wpg t5 pc and although the growth is compact you can still see the substrate, is yours greenlines E.T?
