Hector's Fins Are Shredded A Little

This morning I woke up to find some of Hector's tail fin shredded a little, but he is swimming around just fine. Is this fin rot, and should I treat it like so?

A picture would only determin finrot. So no meds for now until a picture can be provided, he could of caught it on an object in the tank or the filter if you have one. whats in the tank? he may of even done it himself but only a picture will show us what could of gone on.

Here is a pic of where the fins are ripped.
I did not see any black on the edges, but I have a Whisper 10i filter in there that I probably should put some netting over the intake on the bottom.

that certainly doesnt look like finrot. id put some pantyhose over the intake of the filter. or tie a bit of filter media over it.
he is purdy!
clean water will be your best remedy. dont go for any meds at this time. the fin isnt too badly damaged and will grow back fine in no time with good water quality.

Okay.

I change half of the water every Monday, and put a little aquarium salt in there as I know it helps reduce stress and is good for the health and healing of fish.
