my mums being a pain and wont let me get a bigger tank because she tinks it will cost more. dose it actually cost more for a higher watt heater because i know it will cost more when its on but wont it be on for less time

Once the tank gets to the right temp the heater doesnt keep heating it, and as soon as the heat drops it keems it at a steady temp.

However, it would still cost as the heater has to be plugged in 24/7 or the water could get to cold.

Id be thinking more about the bigger filter and the larger water changes...

generally yes a bigger tank does mean higher costs, however if you select the hardware carefully then it doesn't have to cost a lot more, for example if you went for an air driven filter then you would most likely use a lot less than if you use another type

what lights, heater and filter etc are you currently running on your existing tank?

well i want to upgrad my 13l and 5g tank the little one dosnt have a light and the bigger one has a 40w light and i dont know about fillter and they have the little tank has a a 25 w and the 5g tank has a 50w heaters in them and i want to change them for 1 100w heater so i can get a bigger tank. and move the fish from them two tank into my 14g and put the fish from the 14g into the new tank. i dont know about the filter and heater and light ill wait and see what tank i get first
