Heaters And Sumps?

My tank tends to get to warm, a heater wouldn't help keep the temperature DOWN, at all, right? It's only if the water is too cold?

Sumps, what the hell are they?

To cool a tank down constanly you would need to fit a fan, heaters normally wait till the temperature drops below the set level and turns on once the temperature gets high enough the heater turns off, heaters do not cool the tank.

Sumps are another tank under your main tank which is used as a filter. (very basic description lol)

Thank you. Being that it's summer, my tank gets pretty hot, although I have two desktop fans in my room running at all times, so it doesn't get out of hand.
