The heater in my 260L doesn't appear to be working. The thermometer is reporting 20 degrees.

I am going to replace the heater, but how long can the fish survive at this temperature? (I noticed it yesterday after a water change).

20 degrees isn't all that bad
they should be ok for a a few days
just don't feed as much as usual as their metabolism will be slower then usual

keep the room temp high and the tank lights on to keep it warm, what fish have you got, some will be more able to cope at lower temps than others

get a new heater as soon as you can, but most community fish will be ok for a few days at 20oC, bear in mind though that this may be dropping quite considerably at night. :/

Getting a new heater on the way home from work tonight so it should be OK (hopefully). I've left the lights on to generate a bit more heat and also left my PC on (same room) since that chucks out a lot of heat :)

Thanks
