Hi I have two heaters that the glass has cracked on, due to me stupidly not waiting for them to cool down.

Can you repair them??

as said no you cant fix & really you dont want to be fiddling around with an electrical piece of equipment that is going to spend its life in water - think of the consequences if there was a water leak into a part of the heater that carries the electrical current , no more fish & possibly a big risk of injury or worse to yourself.

Thank you for that I did buy new ones, but was wondering if the old ones were repairable before I threw them out.

Thank you for your help I will chuck em when I get home xx

If you seem to forget to turn them off alot (I know I do), see if you can get ahold of a Marineland Visitherm Stealth heater. They are made of a black plastic that is shatter proof and will automatically turn off when the water level goes down. I have them in all of my tanks and they're great. Here's a link.

Thank you for that they sound great, I will have to invest in some coz I have lost two heaters now due to forgetting to turn them off lol x

not sure you can get the Marineland Visitherm Stealth heater in the UK, but what i was advised to buy is a hydor theo heater. they don't have a traditional coil element in them, carbon block or something instead i think? but apparently they will cope with being left out of water for a while. although its still not really recommended.

or if you have an external filter there are external inline heaters which connect onto the outlet pipe of the filter and they state that they can be run dry. i plan to get some of these in the future when funds allow.
