HI all

seems my heater has konked out, just put my hand in the tank and its colder than usual, dont hav a thermometer so i dont know exactly what the temp is.

I have put the light to help and ive covered the tank up in a duvet.

WHAT ELSE SHALL I DO?!?!?!?!?!

Thanks in advance

firstly, i would get a thermometer as soon as you can... it can't be very good if you just guess the temperture, plus in this kind of situation, atleast with a thermometer, you can assess the temperature of the water and your know right away when its dropped etc...

Secondly, your need to get a new heater as soon as possible if your current one is not working..

Not alot more i can say, sorry!

Goodluck

Sounds like you've done the best you can do till you can get a new heater & thermometer. When my heater failed it stuck on and cooked my fish while I wasn't at home. I would rather have had your situation. You might want to put in some ich med if you have any - that junk tends to attack the fish more when the water temp. is cool.

your post beat me by a few seconds. Glad you got the heater already!

Ive heard when this happenes you could put a bottle with some hot water innit! never tried that though!

Usually turn room temp up and cover with a blanket.
Don't bother with the hot bottle waste of time just alting the temp for it to go back down again.

Not if you can run out & get a heater as fast as J4MES did! The water could have been a bit warmer by the time he got back and saved a little extra time till the heater could raise it further. Sometimes timing can make a big difference!

I agree if you can get a heater fast, but if not just leave it otherwise as it will just stress the fish more with the temp being up and down.
