ok i wouldnt normally do this but i need the heater for a hospital tank, would my platty fry be ok without a heater for a week or so whilst i use it for my injured fish or should i go and buy another? my room is quite well heated as im a wimp when it comes to the cold so i doubt the water will get too cold but i dont know? never tried keeping fish without one.

doesnt matter i went n bought another new heater as i needed some medication for another fish. and its prob handy to have a spare

Good, because the heater would matter. Even the temperature swings from day and night in a warm summer are often enough difference to cause quite a bit of stress in fish. Tropical fish should ALWAYS have heaters, even in the summer, to prevent temperature swings from day and night. It can be a 10 degree difference, which is a big range.

if the temp in your house is above 75ºF and the tank isnt next to any windows then it should be ok.

bought a new heater. wouldnt have asked in the first place as its not something i would have done but one of my mollies got injured and needed keeping in a hospital tank with meds which left me in a sticky situation. all sorted now, my rooms permanantly warm as im the biggest wimp with the cold ever. n the tank was agianst an internal wall.
