One of those hydro mini heater just before I went back to work lunch time, husband said sure something flashed in this tank (kitchen) but fish looks ok. I could smell rubber burning! Got lid off and scooped fish into nearest mug. Luckily I had got a tank set up with clean water so after floating him for a bit..no heater in spare tank..he is in there now. He seems fine but he has suffered damage to bottom fins. Might have to remove filter but at the moment he is more interested in watching tele which is next to him. Havent put any meds in water not sure what to put for burns!

If you click on photos you can see how tatty he looks. do you think he will be ok?

oh man! good thing he's okay! i think the fins grow back to what they used to be, but they wouldnt be as pretty

dunno how big tank is got it for a fantail but he didnt like it :shout:

I'd treat it like finrot. Scrupulously clean water and keep a careful eye out for infection. No need to add meds unless you have to tho some Bettafix/Melafix and salt may help ward off any opportunistic infection.

Hope your fishy pulls through ok.

 OUCH! I am glad he is okay, I have never heard of a heater doing that, ever! I hope he gets better soon!

First time ive heard of heater blowing up. I think he should be alright without treatment but if you feel he needs it then you should but its up to you. Very nice betta tho very unlcuky betta aswell.
Hope He Gets Better Soon.
Good Luck.
