i just got a 104L tank today. this is my first tank so a few questions.

where abouts do i position the heater and thermometer (heater one end + thermometer the other)?

how long will it take to heat up to 25 degrees (heater set to 25)?

and befor i get posts about the water i am goin to do the fishless cycle and MAKE SURE the waters right befor i add my fish.... ive read loads on here about how to do so.

patience is the key .... better to be safe than sorry!!!

thanks in advance
stu

The heater is best where there is current flow as it will warm the water up quicker, so I normally put it near the filter where the spray bar is.
It will take around 24hours to warm up i think, but if you get a thermonitor just keep an eye on it and then turn it up to around 30degrees - really high. as it makes bacteria form faster (thanks to minxfishy for telling me that).

thanks alot... where would i put the thermometer ... the opposite side of the tank to heater or by it? ive already got the heater by spray bar

Hi Stu - welcome to the forum

You can pretty much put the thermometer and heater where you like. Thermometer needs to be somewhere easy for you to read.
I think most people put the heater in the corner so it is easier to hide. I have mine close to the filter output so the water is moving around the heater element.

When you are first filling up - you can just go for hot water out of your tap - or if you are worried about metals from your heating system - put cold in and top up with boiled water from the kettle and then add your de-chlorinator. No need to have your heater do all the hard work.
