Heat Of Tank Determins Sex Of Fry

i rember a while back reading somthing about the heat of the tank determins the sex of the fry, coud any one tell me if this is true and am i right in saying higher tamps produce males and lower temps produce females?

I've never heard of that in terms of Livebearers. With Livebearers I've heard that lower pH turns out more males. And that's all I've heard. It's anyone's guess as to whether any of it is true or not. I would lean towards the lower pH one though, as my pH in my Variatus tank was about 6.5 and I got 7 males out of 9. That could be purely coincidental, but I have another batch of fry growing up in a low pH tank. We'll see what happens there...

Hmm interesting. I have a ph over 8- and I got 4 males out of 15. So maybe there is something in it.

This is what I was wondering about a couple of days ago.My ph is 7.8 and 8 out of my 10 mollie fry are female.Im going to take careful note of what sex the guppy and platy fry are.The 17 that were born this week came out of another tank which has a lower ph and a lower temperature and are all orange/blond so I will also keep a note of those.Should be interesting

Now this strikes me as a scientific question where we should be able to get together a significant amount of data, considering how many of us there are who've had livebearer fry. Keep 'em coming, folks!
