He Got Big Lips (with Pics)

My Male Blue Ram seems to have developed big lips, he doesn't seem to be able to close his mouth , he still eats fine so there cant be anything stuck , is this a diseases or do you think its just and injury from headbutting the glass or another tank mate??

i doubt it's from an injur. he may just be a little different. like on nemo, with his lucky fin, maby it's his lucky lips =P

Do his lips look like cotton and are they are a grey/white colour?

It doesn't look like anythin bad from the pics though

no his lips look fine apart from being swollen, they weren't like that a few days ago, i got a gold gourami a week ago that he's been having a dig at when its feeding time, im thinking he's over did it with the butting lol, the gourami is bigger thaN him so doesn't even flinch lol

yeah he's one beautiful fish Puddle..

They look a little swollen but nothing to terrible. Keep an eye to be sure though

He could just be deformed. Some fish are born that way. Keep an eye on him. As long as he's eating and swimming all right, he should be fine.

it's the fact that he cant really move his mouth that's bothering me the most , when its feeding time he can but you can tell he's having a little difficulty, doesn't stop him eating mind you lol

na he's not deformed , iv had him since the 23rd dec and he's been fine up till now ..

doh! i knew i shouldnt have put that lion fish in there lol

I think I would add some melafix, he might on hit his mouth of something, the swelling should go down in a few days.
Can you see any sores in the mouth.

Try feeding him some baby brine shrimp, they are very small and the requirement for him to open his mouth would be very small. Self ground powdered flake food is another option.

So long as he is eating all i can suggest is more research on fat lips.

Any white on the cheeks, been looking up info and swollen lips can be mouth fungus that rot away the mouth.

He is beautiful, looks just like my little man.

Mine has big lips too, but not swollen. He has pretty pink lips with a neon blue line across them.

If he is eating he should be fine. I would say it would be from all his head butting.
