Having A Go At Macro

ok thanks for that.sand in 55 g is beach sand.
i tried a bunch of sands from the local river and a few from different spots at the beach.
i chose that stuff because it settled the fastest, thinking it would give me less trouble with the filter.
i guess that also means it is a relativley large grain size.

the little dude is eating frozen blood worms, and he is pretty hopeless at catching fry ( at the moment)
in terms of disadvantages of live feeders i think i'm pretty covered.
varied diet. less chance of nutritional imbalance.( frozen blood worms, fry, hopefully the odd ghost shrimp when he gets bigger)
no nasties (parasites/ bacteria) because i breed the feeders.
no overfeeding yet. (because the fry numbers have not decreased much)

thanks for your concern and input "Catfish Are Cool"
i am now in the market for a small cannister or HOB filter.
i will keep posting pics for now.

oh sorry, i forgot
small tank is 50 liter ~20 gallon
and there is a mirror behind 50g. so it looks extremely full.

Oh right so hes feeding on frozen then, thats good. I would only feed fry every so often, just because thats not their diet in the wild so I try to stick to what theyd eat out there...
EDIT: By the way, 50 litres isnt 20 gallons, its 14 US gallons

ah right
14 gallons would make sense.
first time i've had to use those units.

time for more photo's

Forgive me for sounding like an idiot... but what exactly does "Marco" refer to in the fish keeping hobby?

I assume you mean "macro" not "marco".
Its a photography term, used for when taking close up pictures, or atleast thats the basic meaning of it.

that's it, macro.

i was playing with my camera trying to get big photos of little fish.
takes a bit more work stabilising and focusing.

and i was looking for pointers to improve the photo's

ps for anyone that cares.
new filter is in and cycling.
i have my ferts and now i i just have to find the right sand
wow the black sand is expensive!

will get more picks up soon. i'm having problems with my 50g tank.
fish just aren't happy.

maybe time to make a journal

i like both tanks, but i really like the look of the 55, how its like, party beach and what not :p

thanks a lot.

the half sand idea was fun, and i like the way it looks.
but the sand area is diminishing pretty quickly. diffusing into the gravel.
can be cleaned, by filtering gravel through a catching net.
thats a lot of work . and so i wouldn't recommend it.

The little aquarium has inspired me to set up the 55,the same way.
I'll post as i upgrade
