Have You Ever Rescued A Betta?

i suppose you can call it a rescue,? here in the UK, bettas arent kept in those cups but in bags floating in other tanks, they had a bit more room and the heat, but sometimes they can be 5 or 6 betta bags next to eachother in the tank floating and they are just flaring none stop, i try to go for the not weak but not so strong ones, i mean the ones that arent going to die a few months later, but not the strongest ones that can hold out a little longer.

I know what you mean, and I agreee with you to some extent, but I'm certain to the betta it is rescue.

I rescued one from being flushed alive, he was a beautiful red VT and the woman doen the road was going to flush him, luckily she asked if we wanted him first, then he had a happy life in a 10 gallon with our platy fry, and this was when i had only just started the hobbie :good:

how sad, thank god for you being able to recuse it, why was she going to flush it, didnt she want it no more?i hate when i hear about people flushing live fish, what a stressful and horrid death.

well i've bought fish i've felt sorry for, but i don't consider buying fish really rescuing them as you're still putting money in the sellers pocket so they can buy more fish to abuse.

but i did buy my little Gin from one store because he was so tiny and had only half a tail left, had no idea what tail type he was! but his colour type was like nothing i've ever seen! and completely different to all the other blue VTs they had there. he's silver all over. with a slight copper tinge in certain lights. in fact he's so unusual i'm going to try and breed him in a few months, just getting the gear together and finding him the perfect girl first! turns out he's a super delta as well and a right little piggy! he has a 5 gallon hex to himself these days. his tail is growing back now after a vicious battle with fin rot, it's now healthy!

when he first went into his new hex:

and now: dancing so fast my camera can't keep up!

OMG that thing is AWESOME! if i saw that in a store, whether it had it's own 5 gallon or in a cup, i would of bought him

I don't have any pics, but a few weeks ago, I went to the LFS to buy fish food, and wound up checking out the bettas there. After 20 minutes of walking about the store debating, I bought a little guy who was so long that he was bent from his cup. And I mean bent. His spine went in 3 different directions, and when I first let him out into the 1.6 gal home, he couldn't swim. He would sink to the bottom and sit on his bent tail. In his cup he looked VT, but he is actually a very nice CT. He has rehabbed a bit, can swim and his spine no longer has 3 curves in it, just one, but he hasn't eaten since I've had him. He won't take anything.

So, while I am worried he is going to die from starvation, he does seem happier. He buzzes around his bowl and has a super duper bubble nest everyday. I will be sad when he is no longer with me, as he is a cute little guy. I beg him everyday to eat, but no dice. It's quite frustrating really. His name is Chance.

luckily my lfs doesnt keep bettas in cups they just spread them out over the shop but my lfs care about there fish so there is non to rescue. but a bigger place called shirley aquatics keep there bettas in 4x3x5 and most of them look very ill but last time i went they didnt have any bettas in other wise i would of got a few and got them back to good health.

What sort of foods have you tryed? I'd go crazy trying to find something.. I hope he's finally eating!

As for myself.. no rescues yet as I'm still cycling my divided 10gallon :) I'll be rescuing a male and a female.. I'll post pics when I get them.
