Awesome, parrot man!! You'll be happy you did. Well conditioned fish produce better fry.

I feel dumb asking, but what is conditioning?
Feeding your fish twice a day on high protein foods so they're in tip top shape. This also gives the female nutrient rich eggs, which is excellent since the fry ARE those eggs and they also live off the egg sack for the first couple of days. So basically what you feed your parents, you are feeding your unborn fry as well. This also helps the male since he'll be going for several days wth nothing to eat besides the occasional accidently swallowed fry. It also helps to prevent fry eating, if he gets tooo hungry...

A Betta gym for bettas giving them exercise in that you only let the male see the female for 15 minutes a day and he flares like mad at her and show her what he is made of.. and feed them lots of good food live and frozen bloodworms........ as wuv said above because she beat me...

;) Don't feel dumb, we weren't born knowing these things. You should have read the responses I got when I asked what "flashing" was. :p

i don't know why everyone is applauding him, he is still going to breed them
i have nothing against kids taking up breeding..as long as they have "done their research". treat the fish with some respect.
taking a spawn from fry to healthy adult is hard work, it takes a lot of time to do it right, and a lot of water changes. can't imagine how much harder it will be for you to do it with gravel in your breeding tank (most people who take at least a glance at the basics of breeding know to always use bare-bottom tanks for breeding..).

... I thought in his last thread, she was "already laying eggs"? I can't tell, really, since he complains in one thread she's ignoring him, but boasts in another that she's laying already.

Not trying to stir up trouble, I'm just wondering if my eyes decieved me.

Ah yes I've totally forgot about that Soritan.
Male has finished building bubblenest and i let the female in and they are laying their eggs!

Bkk is right. Breeding bettas should be a hard and carefully planned work. Gotta have a bare-bottom tank or else the male betta would have a very very very hard time collecting the fallen eggs. Good thing I've done both of what Bkk wants: did my research and I love my bettas :D . Wait, just because I said I did my research please don't test me ;)

I'll also add that conditioning them gives them strength for the actual spawning. It gets rough in there and they get ripped up. You want their bodies to be healthy enough to take it as well as regenerate. Many fish are lost in spawning, but conditioning reduces this

For being kind about it, and of course he's still going to breed them. I kinda doubted he ever seperated them, no offense parrot man :p For now we have to give him the benefit of the doubt though.

But...I gotta say there is no age limit when it comes to having a successful spawn, as long as you're dedicated. I met a little girl tonight who blew my mind, she was around 9 or 10 and she brought in six amazing CT's for show, six out of a total spawn of 70+. They were adorable and perfect. Her dad bragged how she would change the water in the jars every day (he's a discus buff so they did their changes together), it was just awesome  Not trying to hijack...just thought I'd ramble
