I cleaned my Tank totally the other day and yesterday I noticed it was kinda coudly and had some brown stuff along the top of the water. I didn't think anything of it because the tank was just 100% cleaned. New filter too ! So Today I noticed the cloudy ness was still there and there was like a thin layer of brown on the edges of the tank. so I did a 25 % water charge and I just thought I would take a look at the filter and it was COVERED in what looked like mudd ! I have NO CLUE what it is or where its from . What else should I do to the tank. The fish seem to be fine. The frogs may be a bit lighter but other then that it seems Okay . What should I test for and what should I do !? Id apprecite any help
Thanks Guys

Can you post test results in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, what size tank, how many fish and which type, and how long has the tank been set up.

I'll do the tests right now. Its a 10 Gallon I believe. With 4 guppies and 3 plays and 2 frogs. It looks like a couple of the rocks may be rusting.. Is that possible?

Ammonia Between 0 and 0.6 Very Lite

Nitrate 0.1 Very Lite

Ph 7.4 maybe a little lighter

Is it a new set up, could it be brown algae on the rock that looks rusty.

It could be brown alge but I just set it up 2 days ago ! and the filter was FULL of the brown stuff when I looked at it today ...

Are the tests all where they should be??
Thanks so much for your help

So it's only been set up 2 days, sponges usually look brown in colour when they having been in a while, but I wouldn't expect yours to be, are they new spongers or from another tank.

Its because you changes everything in the tank. You destroyed the biological filtration that had been built up in the tank so the tank has to completely cycle again. The brown stuff is brown algae that forms in most tanks while they are cycling. Try doing regular water changes.

Okay thanks I have never seen it before. I did do a 25% water change today and even that little bit helped
Thanks Guys

If you cleaned out the whole tank you'll have caused a re-cycle... you didn't post results for nitrIte but your ammonia should be 0. You shouldn't realy be doing a complete clean-out like that... Read the link in my signature if you want more info. Keep testing your water and doing regular water changes so as not to poison your fish. I agree that this is the cause and that what you are seeing is brown algae.
