Hi Im new to the fishtank scene and have a four foot tank with:Two Pink Kissing Gouramis,Two Angels,Two Silver Sharks,Two Silver Dollars,Two Clown Loaches,Six Platies and Four Red Eye Tetras. They are all babies. The tank has been up and running with the fish from early april 2006 and was running for Three weeks before i added my fish.My amonia, nitrate, nitrite,ph and temperature are all at the correct levels as far as I know for my fish.I do water changes once a week and observe my fish frequently daily and all of a sudden today i have noticed white spots all over one of my clown loaches and white spots just on the fins of my other clown loach.None of my other fish appear affected and all of my fish including the loaches are eating fiercly. They all seem healthy looking. As I'm new to the fish hobby i was hoping to find out if it could possibly be any other disease other than white spot. After just joining this site I have read that you should not treat the fish until you know what it has.As I assumed it was white spot i treated the tank and don't know if that was the right thing to do.If the loaches have a disease should I put them in another tank on their own.Well another thing I may have done wrong after reading this site is adding salt as I'm not sure now if I should have added salt having clown loaches.I live in Australia and have only lost one fish since I first started my tank in early April 2006 and it died the day I bought it.I want to look carefully after my fish and don't want to lose any so I'm hoping somebody out there may have some tips for me and have a solution to my loaches problem.Oh and one thing that i have noticed which some of my fish have been doing is bouncing into ornaments briskly on their side which i thought was a little unusual but mabye it's just normal behavior.Well hope I haven't made this too long as I'm new to this forum Thank you from Bonnie The Best Whippet :D :D

If the fish look like they have been sprinkled in salt yes it whitespot, plus clown loaches are very prone to it, you will need to add a whitespot med but read the instructions very carefully as with clown loaches you have to half dose with some types of meds, as they don't tolerate it to well, don't add salt to the tank as clown loaches are scaless fish and it will burn and irratate there skin.
Turn temp up to 30 and increase aeration as the med and high temp will reduce 02 in the water.
Finally as the clown loaches and bala sharks grown you will need a 125gal tank.

Do a water change to get rid of the salt in the tank.
