Seems I may have some sort of algae bloom - at least I think its algae - murky brown coloured water with a tinge of green which forms suds when siphoned into a bucket. Does that sound like algae?
I recently made a few changes which may have triggered it:
- Replaced 50% of my light tubes with new ones.
- Added flora dose root tab fertilizers to substrate.
- Increased trace dosing to overcome what I thought was iron defficiency in my java fern which was exhibiting pale and transparent new leaf growth.
- Added more fish (1 platty + 12 black neons) to the 66g tank.
Any thoughts on which of these caused it or just too many changes all at once?
So I've done a 50% water change, reduced photo period from 10 to 9 hrs and reduced trace fertz for time being. Anything else I should do (or not do)?
