I have :

9 Danios
3 tiger barbs
2 silver sharks
2 gouramis
1 leopard catfish
10 sunset platys

tank size is 180 litres (I think that's about 45 gallons)

Hello beastie,

It's a bit difficult to tell if you have too many fish or not. For example, if the danios are zebra or leopard danios (about 5cm or 2in) then you're fine, but if they are giant danios (10-15cm or 4-6in) then the tank is overcrowded.

The same goes for the gouramis, what kind are they? Small dwarf or honey gouramis (5cm or 2in) or something as large as 15cm (6in), like for example a blue gourami?

Tiger barbs would like to be in a larger group than 3. If you get trouble with them nipping the fins of other fish, then you should definitely get more. They usually leave other fish alone if they're in a larger group.

The silver sharks like to shoal and can grow up to 30 cm (12in), so they will grow too big for your tank. I suggest you consider removing them.

I'm not sure what a leopard catfish is, so I can't comment on that.

If you want to raise the platy fry that will no doubt be born in your tank (assuming you have at least 1 female) I'd say it's too full. I got a new 50 gallon and am planning on having tetras and danios in groups of six.
If you feed them profusely, ( and if that catfish is a cory) you might want to get another cory or two to help w/ cleaning up food at the bottom (though they should be fed pellets of their own) and b/c they like to be in small groups.
