well I woke up this morning and had a look at the tank only to find that 1 of my hatchet fish was missing taught nothing of it but when I came home it was dead and the shrimp were eating it I checked all water tests....... results were
ammonia 0
nitrate 0
nitrite 0
ph 6.8

the fish are only in the tank 3 days now its a 100L tank also i did do a fishless cycle.
just looked at my neon tetras and they seemed quite happy until i turned the light off they began to sink to the bottom and turn slightly on there sides.
also my tetras seem to be chasing each other and trying to bite each other is this normal.
tank has
2 hatchet now only 1 due to death
6 neon tetra
2 shrimp
1 rainbow shark
is this all ok
any help appreciated

What is your tap nitrate reading as it's very rare for a fishkeeper to have a nitrate of 0.
That shark needs a 40gal tank.
What do you feed the fish.
Being unable to maintain balance and tilting to onside is swim bladder.

apolgises nitrate is .25 lowest reading on the test card I think
never checked the nitrate of the tap .......
the neons seem to be swimming around fine now but are still darting at each other why is this
also a friend put these fish in for me and when feeding them he put about 30 flakes in would this
have done anything ie overfed
thanks for the quick reply

Good god no wonder just a pinch of flakes.
Do a water change and remove the flakes they haven't eaten.
Variety of frozen foods and veg in there diet.

I know already done would this have been the cause of the hatchets death ...just about the rainbow can I hold onto it till it grows slightly bigger then transer it to a 40gl tank or would you reconmend transfering it now its roughly an inch and a half at the moment

The shark needs plenty of room, but if you upgrade soon hang onto him.
Sure the shark isnt stressing any of the fish out.
Did he blow up in the tummy region.
