Well.... as of last Saturday, I think.... one of the new Crowntail boys hasn't been eating... he never ate, and still isn't. I'm very worried. I mean, I don't expect new kids to eat for a few days, but more than a week is not boding well. Last fish I had no eating was the lady... and you all know what happened to her *sigh*. I thought maybe he wasn't used to flake food, because the other crown I got isn't - but he'll eat the pellets. I tried Tetra BettaMin, HBH Betta pellets, freeze dried bloodworms, and tonight, frozen bloodworms. A few times he'll come up and look, but go away and not eat. I'm so worried - he's the prettiest fish ever. His water is fine as far as I know, with Stresscoat, a bit of Melafix, and a bit of salt added. I'm doin all I can think of but there must be something.... -_- Any help is appreciated, I can't lose this boy... :-(

Try anything thats living thats what i get my new bettas to eat (or any fish) that refuses to eat when i get them ;)

I can totally sympathize with you julie. When I got Simon, he didn't eat for almost two weeks (I too, offered him everything I had...live, frozen, and dried anything). Others can testify that I was posting my worries almost daily.

Is he acting normal otherwise? Swimming, alert, somewhat interested to what's going on around him? Any signs of fungus?

If everything else seems normal with him, he's probably just being stubborn. Just keep offering him different kinds of food. Finally I just left a betta pellet in the tank for a day, and he eventually ate. Goofy guys sometimes...Now he's the biggest pig I have...making up for lost time, I suppose. ;)

Don't get too discouraged yet... :smb:

whenever I get a new one that seems to not be eating I drop in a few guppy fry and that seems to bring it around! they just can't resist those little guys and I always have them available so it's not a hard thing to do. Maybe you could try something like that. hope he perks up for ya and good luck!

Thanks guys - as far as I can see, he does seem fine otherwise. He's swimming around, seems active, blows the occasional bubble (without aim tho hehe), and flares all the time at his reflection - goon!! I do hope he's gonna act like your boy dix, and start eatin in a few days. Maybe I'll put a zebra danio fry in with him, I can't get ahold of any other types of live food around here. However, they're so tiny I dunno if he'll see it! And no way am I givin him one of my platy fry, they're too cute.

Ugh.. I am very worried.... he'd better eat.

Give it a day or a few...he should start soon hes probably still nervous (Took most of my new bettas 1-5 days :)

How's the betta doing? I was feeding Simon a little bit ago, and it reminded me of your dilema. Hope he got over his not-eating-attitude-problem. :D

Sorry to hear about you guy, hopefully he will eat soon. I was wondering if you have tried the bloodworms that are made by tetra that come in that jell stuff? I use it to coax mine to eat, i will push a tiny bit out of the opening and swish it around in the tank until they come for it. If it floats, they will not eat it stuburn spoiled guys LOL. I think you can buy it most places, including Walmart. Good luck and let us know.
Sandy
