I've been cycling a new tank for about 10 days. The ammo had dropped to zero 3 days ago and I had been adding a few drops every night as 'food'. But after testing last the ammo has stayed at around 3 - 4 ppm. Tonite is is about 1.5ppm.

What does this mean? Should I stop adding more ammo now 'til the level falls to 0 again? Can I then carry on and add a few drops to get it back to 3-4ppm and test each day and add more ammo when the level hits back to 0?

When the ammonia levels drop to 0 12 hours after adding the ammonia then its done...but then you have to check on the nitrites (adding the "food" drops you are talking about). 10 days isn't enough time...it'll be more like a month. :) I would wait until its 0 to add more.

It's all going well again. The Nitrite level has today started to drop off: it was so dark red that it was off the scale and today it is down to 0.8mgl :) At that speed, it'll be zero tomorrow :)
