Is it possible to split 1 plant into 2 down the middle as i want to have a planted tank but with a tight budget im going to have a riccia carpet in the foreground and a castle i got spare in the middle and want to put some plants all around it making it look quite hidden, I recently took some ferns(i think java) out of their cage and some of the roots had grown through and snapped off leaving a leaf on it(have 3 of these) will they grow as big as the original plant(9-10 leaves).
also i have a fluval 305 external filter is there an efficent position to have my filter outlet pointing into the tank ie across the corners or stright along the back or to the front?
And is it worth insulating it to stop the water cooling down as it goes through (not important but have some big polly boxes spare.
