Does anyone have any personal suggestions for a low light background plant?
I have two 15W tubes running in a 2 foot deep tank.
I want something that will be easy, and cover the whole back thickly.

Your advise is much appreciated, it really it.
Thanks

What kind of substrate and water stats do you have?

If your water is fairly hard, I would go for straight vallis :good:.

SE England - Essex.
Which i think is one of the hardest water areas in the UK haha.

Can not tell you much else about water stats.

So:
2 15W tubes
18 inch high water level
Hard water
4cm of gravel
Weekly fertilised.

We think straight vallis?

Thanks a bundle :)

Straight vallis will do excellent, as it can use the bicarbonates in your hard water as a carbon source (as opposed to injecting CO2) very well, and doesnt need drastically high lighting :good:.

No kidding! I have Vallis nana, and the thing is still a weed! The stems are long too. I cleared a bunch and a lot of the stems were about 2ft long. It is much more delicate looking that traditional vallis, as it has very thin leaves, but it is just as hardy, I think.

Looks like i know what i am doing now then :)

Can you overcrowd it though?
Because i want to make a solid wall of this along the back of my aquarium.

the only time you can overcrowd an aquarium is when the fish cant swim, and no light can get to the lower leaves :) Lots of people make 'a wall' of vallis.
