Wo, have not kept updated with this post for a long while. I have gained a lot of knowledge. As a result, I started my tank and I've been able to make good progress so far. I'm keeping a fish journal here:

I added the fishes right away and I measure the levels everyday. My readings are consistent although my water is a little soft. I'm still thinking about what I am going to do about that. I couldn't start my co2 system because the parts will arrive September 15th. And without a good kH, the co2 levels at night can make my pH fluctuate. Although I've thought of a way to compensate for that and keep the kH and pH balanced, a slightly higher kH, about 6 dkh would set my mind at ease. Plants also grow slower at higher pH and prefer slightly acidic water. So I'll experiment and post my results on the blog.
