This is absolutely horrible and I don't know what happened. I was feeding my cherry barbs (there are six in my 10 gallon) and i'm watching them and all of a sudden I noticed that one of my cherry barb's tail has been riped off. She's still swimming normally but i'm trying to figure out what happened. I could definetly see one of the larger girls or either of the boys going it but there mouths are just so small I couldn't imagine them taking that huge of a chunk. How else could this have happened. Now I don't know what to do. Will she heal okay--will some melafix do. I don't have a quarantine tank or the space or money to get one. And i'm afraid that she may not be safe. Help me!!!
(all emotions at once( :( :grr:   ???? :shout: ))

What other fish do you have in the tank.
Cherry barbs can be aggressive.
As long as she not struggling to swim she might make it.
Yes add some melafix to the tank.
Would of been best to issolate her though.

The only fish are the cherry barbs. And I think i've figured out who the attacker is.

The big female named Melanie always chases my hurt girl around, as well as, but not as much, all the other fish. Which I find strange because Melanie is often harrassed by the boys. You'd think she would no better than to do inflict the pain inflicted on her. I really just want to get Melanie out of the tank but I have nowhere to put her.

Oh yeah. And I wish someone had told me cherry barbs were crazy. Everyone said they were peaceful but i'm quickly finding that not to be true.

I had cherry barbs and they were not peaceful, one of them would chase my corys around had to put corys in another tank.
Good luck.
