I seem to have some white-hair-like algae growing on some of my plants. I think this is called hair algae.

I am wondering if I could add snails or shrimps to control it? I have a Pleco but he prefers the green stuff I think.

I don't have any big fish at the moment as all juveniles and could remove shrimps at a later date if they are suitable. Shrimps would be my preference but whatever's best for controlling the algae really. Oh and if snails then something which doesn't reproduce at a silly rate as I don't want the tank over run with them.

Seems like it is hair algae.

Would some Amano shrimps be OK? Are there any alternatives to the Amanos incase I can't find any, also how many should I get? Thanks.
