Hair Algae

I have got some hair algae growing on the plants in my tank, does anyone know what causes it or how to get rid of it without an algicide. It looks disgusting, but i dont seem to have any problems with other types of algae. Even the otto wont eat it.

How much is there? See I have like one or two "stalks" growing off of the anubias.. I figured it they became a problem, I'd just pluck them off with my hands. They seem pretty controllable.. unless these aren't Hair Algae
