well i have a male and a female in a spawning tank (the female is in a floating container). And the male loves her and is showing off, flaring, building a nest, etc. But she doesnt seem to care all that much... so i put another female in with her.
This means that there is now a male free in the tank, and two females in the same floating container in his tank. Now her colors are so intensified and she is flaring and chasing the other female... i thought this was just territorial behavior, but now im starting to think it may be more... like she may be showing off to this other female.

Is this female attracted to other female bettas? Or is this just her way of saying "this is my male, and i dont want you anywhere near him"... because she doesnt seem to care about the male all that much.

Now that she has competition she now wants the male to herself and shes saying to the other female "Hey hes mine, backoff" Sometimes females just need a bit of competition to get into the swing of things.

i personaly would not have put her in the same container.. mabey in a container next to her so she can see her compation.

mabey she is a pk male.. and was intimidated by your breeding male hence it went all shy and colourless, but a female brought out the colours

im certain that she isnt a pk male since it is a crowntail female with a white little dot under her belly... im just not sure if she really wants this male, because whenever he comes to see her, she backs away and loses her color/vertical stripes.
