H E L P . . . What Happened To My Fish?

Hi. I just bought my first platies last month. 1 male, 3 females. I just want to ask what are those things that appeared on my fish? (pointed by the red arrow). They were not there a couple of weeks ago... Is she sick?? By the way, she just gave birth yesterday to 26 baby fishes. If ever she's sick, will the babies be affected too? Thanks in advance for the help.

I would google anchor worm if I were you. never had to deal with it myself, but it looks like it, should be treatable

It does look like a parasite attached to the fish.

i agree, looks like anchor worm to me. There should be treatment info online, but i would imagine any anti-external parasite meds would work. May want to try posting on the emergency forum or PMing Wilder for more info.

Looks very much like what a betta of mine had a while back I just pulled it from my fish at the time (not knowing any better) the betta was ok but I wouldnt rec pulling them

Do what dwarfgourami advised. Plenty of external parasitic medications available. Sooner the better. Be cautious though - make sure the med doesn't harm inverts of scale-less fish if you have any.
