I have a tank with guppy's in it and when they breed the babies get eaten... No problems there...
I have helped my friend set up at tank with some babies from my tank.
The problem is her guppys have babies  and they dont get eaten so she just keeps getting more and more...
In her tank she has some neons, some catfish and lots of guppys!
My tank has some neons, some guppys, a black widow tetra, some catfish and a coolie loach.

Why dont hers get eaten but mine do? She is now getting stressed as she is going to have to give some to our local pet shop soon... She wants some guppys but not hundreds...

Any advice?

Many thanks
Claire

well you can give them to the store/ some stores will have dedicated baby tanks or you can find other people who want fish. fry getting eaten is usually common, maybe your friends fish just don't bother with them.

Trade some guppys for a small, hungry cichlid.

what size is her tank because she can always buy a non-livebearer to keep the fry undercontrol :/
if any i would go for either some danios, rasboras, white clouds however my female betta does a good job :p

Well, mommy guppies are usually very emaciated after giving birth. She doesn't eat anything when she's in labor so therefore the guppy will be extremely hungry when she's finished delivering and the only food source will probably be the fry!

Maybe it's that your friend's tank has more hiding spaces for fry (such as floating plants) and that's why the guppy fry aren't getting eaten?
