When I order my fish I got 3 female guppys 2 of them was preggy. So I put both of them in a breeding/fry trap... The first one must of given brith as she has gone to normal size and the black part of the belly has gone. Though cannot see any fry (I dont know how small they are when first born)

The second one is still fat and wont give birth so I was wondering why. She isnt showing any signs or depression or stress for being in the trap and she is still fat with the black part of the belly showing. She is just not ready to give birth or is she holding them back ?

she's got a while to go, at least another 10-14 days.

Okay thanks. I thought it was something I was doing wrong...

Is there anything I can do to make her feel better or should I just leave her alone ?

ye dont keep her in the trap to long, 2 days is the most i would do.

Once your use the guppies your be able to tell with in 2-3 days how close she is.

Place her back in the tank and treat her like any other fish.

I dont want to lose the babies though :(

But what signs do they give off so I know when she is ready etc ?

it's difficualt to describe but u lurn over time.

Things like

hiding more then usual.
squaring off
the look of her
antisocerial
the size
etc etc

Okay thanks... So she will get bigger than what she is now ?

It is just one of those things you pick up over time. I don't even section my guppys when they are about to drop so don't pay particular attention to it but I have still picked up the clues which tell you how far off they are.

Okay I will put in back in to the main tank. And if I notice her getting fatter I will put her back in and if I miss it I miss it lol

I have put her back into the main tank and the males are chasing her non stop. Is this alright for her? Wouldnt this stress her out more than being in the box ?

Nope the males will eventually stop they want to be the next father so they are trying to ensure they get in there just after she has dropped its a good sign that she is close.

If she gives birth outside the breeding trap will I be able to see the fry straight away if not what age will i be able to see them to put them in the breeding box intill they get big enough to put back into main tank
